Mission & Values
This foundation was formed with the specific intention of furthering Laurel’s desire for inclusion and her overwhelming faith, positivity, and kindness. Laurel’s life was cut short by breast cancer. She was just one month short of her 47th birthday. During her almost three-year battle with cancer, we learned so much. The diagnosis and journey are full of negativity. It takes great strength and support to navigate the journey and maintain positivity throughout. Laurel’s foundation will help provide that strength and support in the areas of challenge that face every cancer patient.
Every patient faces obstacles ranging from understanding the diagnosis to obtaining insurance authorization for treatment, scheduling/coordinating appointments, managing medication, tracking insurance payments, deductibles and co-pays, and finally, understanding and coping with outcomes. Laurel’s foundation will work with doctors and medical organizations to establish and support “concierge” services to help meet these needs and seek to find ways to “Fast Track” insurance authorizations to facilitate faster and uninterrupted treatment. Finally, Laurel’s foundation will work in the area of hospice care to support uniform care throughout all states to ensure patients and families are provided every tool they need to allow for the efficient management and control of pain achieving a peaceful transition.
A cancer diagnosis, as well as many other life challenges, can cause internal feelings of isolation. Laurel’s foundation will support faith-based counseling to help individuals feeling overwhelmed with their life circumstances and bring positivity back into their life.
Finally, Laurel’s foundation will embrace and further her amazing kindness, performing “Random Acts of Kindness” for individuals in need.
